Return to Hunterville completed March 2023

Early in March 2023 the author completed his own 'Return to Hunterville' visit. This was more than 12 months since I last passed through Hunterville and had told various persons that I was hoping to publish my novel - about their town and district - sometime during the mid to latter part of 2022. The revisit was almost 4 months after my novel had been published. I didn't think it was going to be that emotional - but it was. And even moreso. Revisiting the places in and around Hunterville mentioned in the novel was powerful.........William's farm up Murimotu Road, the Hunterville Cemetery, the Manuka Honey Shop, Simpson;s Reserve, the Old Mangaweka Bridge, Williams favorite stands of virgin native and manuka bush, etc,  Heaven help me if and when I return to Naples for a revisit. Hopefully that will be sooner rather than later. Programmed for 2024.

The most worrying aspect of the revisit? NOBODY I connected with during the visit  knew the novel had actually been published. A definite sign that I need to get into serious promotional mode.  Happy to report that this has commenced. Not really social media savvy - but that is about to change. Watch this space.

Handed out a couple of complimentary author's copies of my novel to key persons who have previously helped me when I was in Hunterville researching for the novel. Feedback great. Phone call this mooring from one of those persons was excited and happy with the way Hunterville township, and its community has been portrayed. Everybody loves William.

Being a first time unknown author, it's all a huge learning experience. Writing my novel was the easy part - it's what comes after publication date that is far more challenging.
